Today, 11.12.09 at 9:45 AM as I keyed in myself into FACEBOOK, one of the items kept bouncing all around in my mind." Seikho Thomsong says what a woman loves is nothing but to be loved! Feminists are you all up in arms yet?
Di Gangte hehe you stop being a tyrant. You cannot stop people from thinking what they think..can you ransack their mind??? Just keep yours above your shoulder and things will be fine. Remember Rabindranath Tagore's 'where the mind is without fear'.
Not exactly about the opinion in the remarks and counter remarks that gets reverbrated in my mind, but that of the disparity or unequality or whatever words we may use, between the feminine and masculine gender.
The world of late has seen much of the feminine gender rising to power in all areas and circle of life. Some of the most powerful figure of times are witnessed in the personality of the likes of Sonia Gandhi, Mayawati, Indira Gandhi, Margarett Thatcher, Mamata Banerjee, Hillary Clinton... could go on and on. As of today, even the Managing Director of my Organisation is a woman. So what makes one feel that one gender is inferior or superior to the other gender ?? There may be spiritual explanations or arguments for that no doubt.
As I retrace backwards into the previous decades or centuries (that I never had seen or known) through books, films, stories, old sayings etc, I think it wasnt a time the present generation of the feminine gender would like to be. Even in our customary practice of ways of life and living in families, It is and was taken for granted that household domestic works such as washing, cooking, baby sitting, etc belong to the feminine gender. The man was the MAN, the Boss, and responsible for the entire decisions, finances, overall incharge. A man washing the baby clothes, utensils, cooking was commented upon in hushed hushed tones with words like henpecked, NUMEISE, GEE KICHA, hush hush hush.... However it the the woman only who couldnt stand to such remarks and comments more than the man, probably because it is her own man.
Speaking with whatever I gather from the bible (Im no Theologian) there is a level that I believe is set forth both for man and woman. Ephesians 5 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 1 Peter 3 1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
This level of the wives in subjection to their husbands is not something we measure in terms of capability, ability, wisdom, or whatever earthly measures we could go about. Some may think that the woman is subdued and what not, but I believe, that the responsibilities, roles and parts, we as a man or woman would have to take in life, should not be measured in earthly measures for superiority or inferiority. I hold in high esteem the love, the concern, the work, the responsibility, that a woman after marriage and children, has, and does for his family. I respect those persons whose occupation or employment reads as "Housewife". I cant run my house for a single day trying to do the chores or be in the level meant for a woman, whereas vice versa they can do it.
Coming to those yet to cross the marriage barrier, I see them as very unique creation of God. From the day they are born on this earth, they evolve into the one that makes the completeness of the other gender and vice versa. No man is ever complete without his woman and the woman his man.
The feeling of biased gender attitude could evolve from comparison of the levels in earthly measures erroneously. It does not mean or measure to be a lowly form of human in being weaker physically, or doing feminic chores or having long hairs or whatever type of measures the world has. If the creator has set the levels in that way He sure meant it to be that way which we should strive to understand and not measure the levels as being inferior or superior. At the same time, it does'nt mean that one gender is at higher level by means of his or her high capability in earthly measures. All are the workmanship of the potter, moulding it for a purpose, which will shine for His glory.
